A Citizen of the World

So, I was watching this the other day and this lady made a poignant statement. She said (translated from Spanish), "I don't want a first world, a second world, a third world. I want one world." What a wonderful statement. The disasters of the world have really be weighing on me lately, especially knowing how many people recently died in the earthquake in China and how few Americans truly care (especially considering the atrocious comments made by Sharon Stone). Claron made a comment in church this week about his trip to China and about how the people of China value their children so highly and how ghastly it is to think there are towns that lost their entire population of children. My only hope is to raise Eliza as a citizen of the world to be aware that all lives have the same value, whether American, Ethiopian, Iraqi, Chinese, Russian... regardless of your GDP.

Claron bought these for Eliza while he was in China. She loves it. Eliza and I have a busy week. We're going to the zoo, the beach and a dog parade. I'll try to remember to bring my camera.

May Weekend Fun

We've had quite a month. Clark & Lilly came to visit us in Santa Barbara. We went to visit Clark & Lilly in Irvine. This past weekend was busy. On Saturday, we went out to Thai with Mike & Shayna then went to the mission to see the i Madonnari street paintings and the rose garden. On Sunday, we had Persian food made by our neighbors, Mehrnaz and Yassin. On Monday, Scott came to our house and made the most amazing burgers with blue cheese. I think I gained at least 5 lbs this weekend. =-(

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! What a great Mother's Day! Claron made breakfast in bed for me. He also bought me tons of great presents (a mandevilla, a set of 600TC sateen sheets, The Host by Stephenie Meyer, Best Recipe International by America's Test Kitchen, and cut flowers). He made me a 3D card. He also promised me a Wii Fit! Our ward gave us a CD of inspirational music, an orchid corsage, and fudge. I'm attaching pictures:

A Visit from Meme

So, I've had this stuff together for quite a while, but I haven't posted. Sorry! My mom came to visit. We had a great time. We completed a lot of projects while she was here. My yard looks great. Eliza calls her "Meme." As for Eliza, she is doing wonderfully. She walks very well. She does "baby yoga." It is hilarious. She is eating everything again. Yea for that! She now has SIXTEEN teeth! Insane, I know! She is generally very happy and fun.
